Sizing & care

925 sterling silver: Store in an airtight pouch, away from rubber, to slow tarnishing. Polish plain sterling silver with a silver polishing cloth. If your piece has a rhodium or gold finish, or cubic zirconia, clean it only with a soft damp cloth and dry it well – polishing cloths, abrasives and silver dips wear the finish. Remove before swimming, sport and showering, and put it on after perfume and cosmetics.

18-karat (750/1000) gold: Clean in warm water with a drop of mild washing-up liquid and a soft brush, then rinse and pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid chlorine, bleach and abrasive cleaners; remove before swimming, sport and heavy manual work, and put it on after perfume and cosmetics. Store separately in a soft pouch. Ask a jeweller before using an ultrasonic cleaner on a piece with stones.

How should I care for this jewellery?

A little everyday care will keep your jewellery looking its best for as long as possible. Put it on only after applying perfume, cosmetics and hairspray, and take it off before bathing, sleeping, exercising and doing housework. Avoid contact with water, detergents and other chemicals. After each wear, gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry cloth to remove traces of cosmetics and dirt. Most gold and silver jewellery can be cleaned in lukewarm water with a little mild soap or washing-up liquid, then dried thoroughly with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pastes, bicarbonate of soda and toothpaste, which can scratch the surface or damage its finish. Remember that different materials need different care. Silver darkens naturally, so it is best cleaned with a special silver cloth. Gold usually only needs washing in water with mild soap, whereas gold-plated jewellery should be cleaned especially gently, without hard rubbing. Do not soak silver pieces with a rhodium or gold finish or with cubic zirconia, and keep strong detergents away from them – simply wipe them with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Storing your jewellery properly matters just as much. Keep it in separate compartments, soft pouches or boxes, away from moisture and direct sunlight. This reduces the risk of scratches and loss of shine. Regular, gentle care will let you enjoy your favourite jewellery for years to come. More tips in our jewellery care guide.

What is the difference between solid gold and gold-plated silver?

Solid gold is gold all the way through: it does not tarnish, and fine scratches from everyday wear can be polished out. Gold-plated silver is 925 sterling silver with a thin layer of gold on the surface. It gives the look of gold at a lower price, but the plating wears away gradually and needs gentler care – wipe it with a soft damp cloth rather than polishing it.

Fadaria is a designer jewellery studio. We design rings and wedding bands with clean lines and exact proportions. Expressive geometry and considered colour, refined for daily wear.

Our designs take shape in solid 18-karat (750/1000) gold and 925 sterling silver. They are made by experienced manufacturers in Poland and Germany.

Every piece begins with an original design. Only then do we choose the metal, the stones and how it will be made, so that the form keeps its character for years.
